- Mexi Bean Express Officially Hits The Menu
Mexi Bean Express has been spicing up high streets with tasty tacos and good vibes since 2021. Now, the Yorkshire-born Mexican food brand is turning up the heat with the official launch of its franchise model. And the word on the street is, act fast so you don’t miss out! The success of Mexi Bean Express is easily explained: meet Danielle Best, the woman behind the beans, the burritos and the big plans. Growing up in a thriving family business, Danielle watched as the office map filled up with colourful pins, one for every new shop opened. By age seven, she’d decided she would have her own map one day – with even more pins and a lot more flavour! “I’ve always believed that if you’re going to do something, do it properly – and think big while you’re at it! From day one, I knew Mexi Bean Express had the potential to be huge, not just in Yorkshire but anywhere people love good food. I want our customers to feel like they’re part of something fun, fresh and just a little bit cheeky – and I want our franchisees to be proud to have their name above the door,” said Danielle. After falling in love with big, punchy Mexican flavours on her travels, Danielle opened the original dine-in Mexi Bean in 2020. A year later, she spotted a gap in the market – people wanted the same great taste, but quicker, closer to home and in more places. So, Mexi Bean Express was born; serving up big flavours, fast, for the everyday grab-and-go crowd. Fast-forward to today and Mexi Bean Express has proudly opened its doors in Huddersfield, Halifax, Bradford, Brighouse and Sowerby Bridge. And, as word of the mouth-watering brand spread, demand increased exponentially. In response, Danielle teamed up with multi-award-winning consultancy Platinum Wave Franchising to build a solid franchise model and find the right people to grow it. With deals already in the pipeline, UK domination is first on the cards with global expansion not far behind! “Even before the first Mexi Bean Express opened, people were asking me how they could get their hands on one,” explained Danielle. “I’ve had a vision from the start that this brand will be huge, and it’s been built to be scalable – the look, the vibe, the recipes – so that you can pick it up and run with it. I know what it’s like to start from scratch and learn the hard way – I’d rather our franchisees skip the mistakes and get stuck into building something we can all be proud of.” So, what is on the table for future franchisees? For starters, an attractive investment with impressive financial potential in a booming market. Not to mention a proven brand, knockout recipes, straight-talking support, true hands-on training and absolutely no corporate waffle. Plus, a founder who genuinely wants to see you succeed whether you’re looking for a dine-in restaurant, grab-and-go or food truck concept. “I didn’t have a shred of hospitality experience when I started – I had to figure it all out the hard way, so I know exactly how to help new franchisees dodge the usual pitfalls and leverage their local opportunities,” added Danielle. “I want people to feel how I feel every time I step through the door – proud, excited and always hungry for more. “If you’ve ever dreamed of running your own place, love good food and good people, and want to build something that means something to your town – let’s taco ‘bout it!”

- Robert Whitaker Reclaims King George Title
Robert Whitaker and Vermento, the winners of the Al Shira’aa King George V Gold Cup in 2023, reclaimed the trophy during a thrilling final day of action at the Agria Royal International Horse Show. His victory gave his family a third successive victory in this Grand Prix, with Robert’s cousin Donald having won last year’s class. It also made Robert the fourth rider in Hickstead history to win the Al Shira’aa Derby and the King George V Gold Cup in the same year. “It’s surreal,” said Robert. “To win both is very, very special.” Robert was one of just four of the 46 starters to jump clear round Kelvin Bywater and Ben Townley’s challenging track, which caught out many of the sport’s leading names – including Olympic gold medallist Ben Maher, who had returned to the showground for the final day of the show after attending the wedding of his Paris 2024 team-mate Harry Charles and Eve Jobs. Ireland’s Jordan Coyle was the first of the quartet to jump round the shortened course in the second round. Riding the 14-year-old Chaccolino, he finished in a time of 40.17sec, leaving his rivals very little breathing space. Reigning champion Donald Whitaker was next into the International Arena. Last year he’d won the title on the grey mare Millfield Colette, but this year she was not at the show after being part of the silver medal-winning British team at last week’s FEI European Championships in Spain. This year he was riding the eye-catching stallion Di Caprio, and in the jump-off Donald looked to be in with a good chance of retaining the title – only for a stumble in the middle of the double to put paid to their chances. Next in was Robert, once again riding Caroline and Stephen Blatchford’s 12-year-old black stallion Vermento, a son of Argento. They set off in determined fashion, crossing the finish in a time of 38.88sec to go into the lead. Only one rider could stop him from winning, and that was the 22-year-old United Arab Emirates rider Omar Al Marzooqi, making his first appearance at Hickstead’s five-star event. In the end it went right to the wire, with the smallest of slips from the 10-year-old Enjoy De La Mure meaning the pair finished less than a second in arrears, in a time of 39.74sec, to give Robert the win. Robert is now chasing his father John’s total of three King George V Gold Cup victories. “My Dad gets quite emotional – he bred the horse as well, so the whole story is very special,” said Robert, who hails from Huddersfield but now lives in West Sussex. “It’s just been an amazing year for me and my owners – but the year is not over, and we’ve got to keep going!” Robert and Vermento had originally been selected for the British squad in Friday’s Agria Nations Cup of Great Britain, but Robert opted not to compete for the team and just focus on the Grand Prix. “I jumped at Aachen [last month], and it’s quite hard on the horses to jump both the Nations Cup and the Grand Prix. I was thinking of my horse a little bit – it’s good to have the horse to jump the five-star Grands Prix, and he’s the only one I’ve got for those big classes,” he explained. “He's had two days off since the qualifier, so he was very fresh, and jumped incredibly.” Hickstead Director Edward Bunn thanked Al Shira’aa, who now sponsor two of Hickstead’s biggest classes. “We cannot thank Al Shira’aa enough for what they’ve done for Hickstead. With Omar on the podium and two UAE horses in the top six, it just shows they’re becoming a serious force to be reckoned with, so congratulations to them, and thank you for their support of this world-class event,” he said. Earlier this morning, Kent rider Pippa Goddard won the Breen Equestrian CSIYH1 Final with PDV Constanza. Nine combinations went through to the jump-off, with Pippa stopping the clock on 36.01sec – nearly 2.5sec seconds faster than second-placed Holly Smith and Nike van het Singraven. “She’s really brave, she’s super careful, and she wants to do it, so she tries really hard,” said Pippa. “But she also has her own mind, and you have to go with her rather than interfering and telling her what to do. At home, we don’t do much with her – we hack her out a lot, and she goes in the field. It’s all about keeping her as happy as possible.” The Agria Royal International Horse Show drew to a close. The next competition to take place at Hickstead is the Al Shira’aa British Young Horse Championships (14-17 August), when admission and parking is free of charge to spectators. - XPO Logistics Bags A Top 10 Spot
XPO Logistics, a leading provider of innovative and sustainable end-to-end logistics solutions across Europe, has landed a top 10 spot as one of the most sought-after employers in the prestigious Cibyl Sector Rankings 2025. XPO Logistics is ranked 7th against stiff competition in the Logistics, Transport, and Supply Chain sector for 2025, making it one of the top companies in this field for attracting and nurturing early and emerging talent. More than 60,500 undergraduates and graduates across more than 160 universities in the UK and Ireland were surveyed to find out which companies they felt offered the best employment conditions for them in different sectors. The Cibyl Graduate Survey found that respondents who aspire to work for XPO Logistics care more about equality, diversity and inclusion (ED&I) than the average respondent. ED&I ranked 7th out of 18 possible options, based on the expectations of their future graduate employer. This is also one of the personal values rated most highly by the 24% of respondents when asked what they are looking for in their career. Almost half of the respondents (47%) believe that their career options are primarily determined by their social background. When it comes to those with a low socio-economic background, who are Asian, or have a mental health condition, this percentage increased to 55%, 52% and 53% respectively. Values-driven graduates and undergraduates are increasingly choosing employers based on the support culture within the business and the level of focus on inclusivity. For example, nearly one in three respondents (29%) want to learn more about the diversity of the workplace. XPO Logistics not only prioritises these areas, with a specific focus on Neurodiversity and Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion, but also fosters a broader culture of care that places employee happiness, wellbeing, support, and safety at the heart of everything it does. - Digital Marketing Agency Eyeing Up Future Expansion
A digital marketing agency is on a strong growth trajectory following transformational support from Business Gateway East Renfrewshire. Founded in 2017 by Vicky Mustard, Must Media, which specialises in website development and social media, has earned a reputation for delivering impactful digital solutions to a wide range of clients. In 2024, the business was selected as one of just nine local businesses to join the 18-month East Ren Accelerator Programme, which is funded by East Renfrewshire Council. Delivered through Business Gateway, the initiative has played a pivotal role in shaping the business’ strategic direction. The programme offered Must Media tailored mentorship from industry experts, whose advice helped boost Vicky’s confidence and guided strategic decision-making. Programme coordinator, Scott Arnot, has worked closely with Vicky, offering a critical external perspective and adapting support to suit Must Media’s unique goals and challenges. A major component of the support came in the form of 18 months’ access to co-working space at Greenlaw Works. This environment has provided a collaborative hub for Must Media’s growing team, created new opportunities for client engagement, and laid the groundwork for the business to transition into its own dedicated office space. The accelerator programme also enabled Must Media Ltd to bring its growth vision to life by supporting the hiring of two employees. One of these was an experienced marketing professional, contracted for six months to assist in implementing the strategic foundations necessary for scaling. The second was a local content creator, who joined on a part-time basis and will begin a marketing and PR course at college in August 2025, with the intention of moving to full-time employment when the time is right for both her studies and the business. Since the start of 2024, the impact of this support has been clear. Must Media Ltd has secured its largest contract to date, valued at nearly £20,000. Revenue has grown from £45,000 at the start of the programme to £78,960, with projections set to rise to £225,000 by 2027. Vicky Mustard, owner, Must Media Ltd, said: "The East Ren Accelerator Programme has been a transformative experience for Must Media Ltd. The specialised mentors have been invaluable in boosting my confidence and equipping me with the tools to implement strategic changes for growth. The co-working space at Greenlaw Works has provided us with an ideal environment to collaborate, grow, and plan for the future. With Scott’s guidance and the support of a fantastic cohort, we’re well-positioned for success and excited about the opportunities ahead." Scott Arnot, Business Gateway adviser, said: "With a clear strategy, expanded team, and growing client base, Must Media Ltd is a case study in how targeted business support can unlock sustainable growth for local enterprises. Business Gateway’s tailored and hands-on approach has been key to unlocking that success."
- Not A Tech Bubble YET But The Market Is Stretched
US and European stock futures rallied recently after explosive earnings from Big Tech renewed optimism over corporate profitability. Microsoft shares are poised to open higher following the announcement of more than $30 billion in AI infrastructure spending this quarter alone, while Meta surged more than 11% in after-hours trading after posting stronger-than-expected results and deepening its commitment to artificial intelligence. Yet as investor sentiment climbs, global financial advisory giant deVere Group is warning that the underlying structure of the market is becoming increasingly unbalanced—and may be laying the groundwork for trouble ahead. “This is not a tech bubble—yet,” says Nigel Green, CEO of deVere Group. "But several classic warning signs are flashing. Valuations are elevated, market leadership is dangerously narrow, and sentiment is being driven more by momentum than discipline. This combination deserves caution.” The composition of the S&P 500 has become more distorted in recent months. Big Tech now accounts for approximately 32% of the index, with Communications Services, which includes Meta and Alphabet, contributing another 9.6%. Together, these two sectors make up over 41% of the benchmark. At the same time, the top 10 companies now represent nearly 40% of the entire S&P 500 market cap. That level of concentration is “higher than what was seen at the peak of the dot-com boom in 2000,” continues the deVere Group CEO. “The S&P 500 is no longer the broad, diversified index people think it is. It has become increasingly dominated by a small group of companies. Investors are often unaware that they’re excessively exposed to the same handful of names.” Microsoft reported quarterly revenue of $76.4 billion, an 18% year-on-year increase, driven in large part by demand for cloud and AI services. The company’s plans to ramp up AI investment to historic levels sent a strong signal to markets that the arms race in artificial intelligence is far from over. Meta also delivered a 22% jump in revenue and a 36% rise in net income, with executives outlining an even deeper push into AI development and infrastructure expansion. These numbers are impressive by any measure and reflect genuine, fundamental growth. But deVere warns that the strength of these results is part of the problem. The rally has become increasingly dependent on a narrow segment of the market. When this kind of leadership becomes too concentrated, markets become more fragile and vulnerable to corrections. “The AI growth story is real and the earnings are real. But that doesn’t mean the current pricing is always justified,” says Nigel. “Some of the leading companies are now trading on expectations that are, arguably, too optimistic. If even one or two of them disappoint, the effects could cascade throughout the broader market.” Valuation metrics are beginning to mirror those seen in previous periods of overexuberance. The S&P 500 is trading at a forward price-to-earnings ratio above 21, and tech-specific ratios like price-to-sales and price-to-cash flow have pushed into historically elevated territory. Meanwhile, investor enthusiasm continues to rise, fuelled by AI headlines, strong results, and speculative capital. This is precisely the point in the cycle when investors “should take a step back and assess whether their portfolios are truly diversified.” Many believe they are broadly invested but are, in fact, highly exposed to just a few stocks due to the structure of the major indices. “This isn’t about avoiding tech or turning bearish on AI,” notes Nigel Green. “This is about restoring balance. “Portfolios must be positioned to withstand both continued upside and the inevitable periods of volatility. Relying too heavily on a narrow group of mega-cap stocks, no matter how strong they are today, is a risk no serious investor should ignore.” He concludes: “We’re not saying the bubble has already formed. But the conditions that usually precede one are clearly emerging." “Now’s the time to act, not when it’s too late to do anything about it.”
