eCapital UK Appoints Head Of HR As It Invests In People

eCapital UK, one of the UK's leading independent providers of invoice finance and asset-based lending solutions for growing SMEs, has appointed Camilla Woodrow as its new Head of HR, strengthening its focus on people and talent as the business grows.

In her new role, Camilla will lead the HR function across the UK, partnering with the Senior Leadership Team to align the company’s people strategy and plans with its commercial objectives. She will have responsibility for the full employee lifecycle, with a focus on supporting business growth, and creating an exceptional colleague experience.

Camilla brings 25 years of experience in Human Resources, including two decades in senior HR leadership roles where she has developed and delivered people strategies to support organisational success. Having worked with organisations including Glide UK and The HR Dept, she has extensive experience shaping and delivering people strategies that support business growth and performance. She has led cultural change, developed talent, and built high-performing teams.

The appointment follows a period of sustained growth and success for eCapital UK. Over the past three years, the business has increased funds advanced to clients by 46%, grown its client base by more than 32%, and expanded into larger, more sophisticated funding facilities of up to £6 million, helping more small and mid-sized businesses access the flexible working capital they need to invest, expand and build resilience. As the business has grown, so has the importance of attracting, developing and retaining the talent needed to support its ambitions.

Commenting on her appointment, Camilla Woodrow, Head of HR at eCapital UK, said:

“eCapital UK is an ambitious and growing business with a strong focus on its people and its future. I’m delighted to be joining the team at such an exciting time and look forward to working with colleagues across the business to build on the great foundations already in place. My focus will be on ensuring our people strategy continues to support our commercial ambitions, while creating an environment where colleagues can thrive and deliver their best work.”

Lisa Cleaver, Chief Operating Officer at eCapital Commercial Finance UK, said:

“We are delighted to welcome Camilla to eCapital UK at a pivotal stage in our growth journey. Her breadth of HR leadership experience and proven ability to develop effective people strategies will be invaluable as we continue to scale our business."

"Camilla’s appointment reinforces our commitment to investing in our people and ensuring we have the right culture, capabilities and support in place to achieve our ambitions.”

Scotland-based engineering consultancy RSP Consulting Engineers LLP will become part of the construction and real estate consulting firm Drees & Sommer UK, which will hold 100 percent of the shares of the acquired company.

Established in 1987, RSP has developed into one of the foremost design engineering consultancies in the UK. The firm is known for its work within the Financial Institutions, Hospitality, Data Centres, and Life Sciences sectors, as well as its commitment to providing economical and environmentally sustainable design solutions.

RSP's areas of expertise, which include building services design, energy optimisation, and infrastructure, enable Drees & Sommer to deliver a complete interdisciplinary approach within the UK. This latest strategic acquisition by Drees & Sommer UK follows the recent acquisition of Johnston Houston, a top building and construction consultancy based in Northern Ireland, in September 2024.

The addition of RSP Consulting Engineers brings in excess of 60 new employees to the Drees & Sommer UK team, increasing the total workforce to over 300 employees across 12 offices in the UK. This expansion underscores the company's ambitious growth strategy and commitment to enhancing their market presence and service offerings across the UK and Ireland.

The acquisition became legally effective on March 3, 2025. RSP will continue to develop its portfolio as "RSP Consulting Engineers - Part of Drees & Sommer" under the leadership of the current management team, before officially rebranding to Drees & Sommer at some point in the future.

Steffen Szeidl, Spokesman of the Board at Drees & Sommer, highlighted the strategic benefits of the merger:

“Joining forces with RSP represents a significant leap forward in our ability to serve the UK market. RSP's distinguished track record in engineering excellence perfectly aligns with our vision of sustainable and forward-thinking solutions. This merger not only broadens our service capabilities but also enhances our geographical reach, particularly in Scotland. We are confident that this partnership will drive substantial growth and innovation, benefiting our clients and the industry.”

Kenneth Wood, Managing Director of the UK and Partner at Drees & Sommer, expressed his enthusiasm for the merger:

“The acquisition of RSP is a transformative step for Drees & Sommer in the UK. This merger not only strengthens our market position but also significantly enhances our service offerings. RSP's unparalleled expertise in design engineering and strength in complementary sectors such as Data Centres and Life Sciences, combined with our extensive experience in sustainability and real estate, creates a unique synergy that will drive innovation and excellence."

"We are excited to welcome RSP to the Drees & Sommer family and look forward to achieving new heights together. This partnership is a testament to our commitment to delivering exceptional value and sustainable solutions to our clients.”

Graeme Fraser, Partner at RSP, shared his perspective on the merger:

“This merger is a monumental opportunity for RSP and our team. By joining the Drees & Sommer UK team, we are poised to leverage their extensive resources and global expertise to elevate our service offerings."

"Our employees, who are the backbone of our success, will have access to unparalleled career development opportunities and the chance to work on ground breaking projects. We are excited about the future and the transformative potential this partnership brings, ensuring we continue to deliver exceptional value to our clients.”
