Deloitte Appoints New Glasgow Senior Partner

Deloitte has appointed David Mitchell its new office senior partner for Glasgow.

An audit partner at the firm since 2016, Mitchell has over 20 years of experience in professional services, with deep roots in the Scottish market, and brings a wealth of knowledge to the role.

Mitchell’s priorities in the new role include supporting all Deloitte’s business lines, with the aim of promoting sustainable economic growth and positioning businesses to harness the potential of the energy transition agenda in Scotland. This will involve supporting Deloitte’s largest engagements across the UK, as well as connecting with entrepreneurs, universities, incubation programmes, public, private and third sectors.

In his new role, Mitchell will be responsible for leading Glasgow’s team of 325 staff based at its Queen Street office. In 2024, Deloitte Scotland welcomed 88 people to its graduate and BrightStart apprenticeship and industrial placement programmes, with 29 of those in Glasgow.

Deloitte’s hybrid working model allows teams to have flexibility and choice in how they work across client sites, Deloitte offices and home.

David Mitchell, Glasgow office senior partner at Deloitte, said:

“I am looking forward to engaging with Glasgow’s dynamic local business community in my new position. I am deeply grateful for my colleagues' hard work and support - their depth of knowledge, diverse expertise, and commitment make them truly best in class. My role is to foster an environment that brings out the very best in our people and to create a supportive environment that enables both new and existing team members to succeed."

“Looking ahead, our focus will be on embracing new technologies and harnessing the potential of AI and digital transformation to enhance and evolve Scotland’s business ecosystem, as well as capitalising on the many opportunities that the energy transition agenda brings.”

Angela Mitchell, senior partner for Deloitte in Scotland, said:

“David’s forward-thinking approach makes him the ideal leader to drive forward our Glasgow office and foster an environment where staff feel empowered to unlock their potential. I look forward to working with him in his new role and to seeing his vision for the office come to life.”

David Mitchell has also proudly represented both Scotland and Team GB in hockey, including competing in the 2006 Commonwealth Games. He is still actively involved in the sport, coaching and playing alongside the next generation of Scottish hockey players, including his two sons.
