MP Visits Farnborough Business

Alex Baker, MP for Aldershot and Farnborough, visited one of the region’s leading aerospace manufacturers.

Sigma is a member of Farnborough Aerospace Consortium (FAC), which organised the visit.

The company makes pipe and tube assemblies, ducts, manifolds, fabrications ad sub-assemblies, sheet and machined details, and specialist fasteners. It supplies products and services to the civil and military aerospace sectors, including to global companies.

Alex Baker said:

“I was delighted to be invited to visit Sigma by the Farnborough Aerospace Consortium and to have the opportunity to find out more about one of the many incredible and highly technical industries based in Farnborough."

Alex Baker MP with a Sigma engineer commented:

“It was a fascinating visit and another example of not only great careers on our doorstep but also a local business making a global impact."

“Boosting economic growth is at the heart of this government’s mission for the country, and we are committed to supporting businesses such as Sigma.”

Richard Bower, Sigma CEO, said:

“We were delighted to host Alex Baker MP at our Farnborough facility to demonstrate how the local area supports a global aerospace supply chain. It’s always good to raise awareness of what we are capable of and we look forward to hearing what can be done to foster further growth in the area.”

Alan Fisher, CEO of FAC, said:

“Sigma are long-standing members of ours and Alex Baker was extremely supportive. She has a background in the private sector and showed an understanding of what businesses want and require. Sigma gave her a presentation and then a tour of the facility.”

The world renowned Turner Prize has arrived in Eastbourne and a locally head-quartered family business has helped make the exhibition space worthy of such an event.

Towner Eastbourne is hosting the Turner Prize 2023, the world’s leading prize for contemporary art, and Brewers Decorator Centres got involved in supporting this incredible event by donating the paint required for the exhibition space.

A range of Albany paints and accompanying sundries were donated to the Eastbourne based Art Museum which is a stone’s throw away from Brewers Head Office, Albany House. Brewers have had a long-standing relationship with Towner Eastbourne, sponsoring various exhibitions and projects over the years and were delighted to help out on this occasion too.

The Turner Prize is one of the best-known prizes for the visual arts in the world which aims to promote public debate around new developments in contemporary British art, and there is always a diverse selection of art on display.

Established in 1984, the Prize is awarded to a British artist for an outstanding exhibition or other presentation of their work in the previous twelve months.

The announcement of the winner of the Turner Prize will take place on 5 December 2023. The Turner Prize winner will be awarded £25,000 with £10,000 awarded to the other shortlisted artists.

The Turner Prize exhibition is now open and free to visit at Towner Eastbourne until the 14th of April 2024. Find out more here
