Permasteelisa Group Secures £25M Contract At Holborn Viaduct

Permasteelisa Group, the global leader in the design, construction and installation of technically advanced building envelopes, has been appointed by Multiplex to deliver the bespoke curtain wall of the new Holborn Viaduct building, located in the heart of the City of London, close to St. Paul's Cathedral.

Developed by Royal London Asset Management Limited, and designed by PLP Architecture, the new 13-storey building will house modern and sustainable offices, creating a workplace environment that is targeting BREEAM outstanding.

Passive design principles inspired the facade's structure and detailing; the depth and shape of the 15,500 sq m façade which will minimise solar gain whilst maximising natural daylight. Through the use of operable windows it will also provide natural ventilation, focused on delivering sustainability credentials and well-being to the occupants.

The design phase is currently ongoing at Permasteelisa’s design centre in Italy, where the bespoke elements of the façade will also be assembled in its specialist manufacturing facility. The installation phase is planned to start at the end of March next year, with scheduled completion expected after 12 months.

Liam Cummins, Permasteelisa Group’s CEO, comments:

"Being chosen by Multiplex to deliver such a prominent project in the City, highlights our capability as a market leading façade specialist. We have delivered many projects in the capital over the years, and this will be a fantastic addition to our portfolio.”

Nicola Calzolari, Executive General Manager for Permasteelisa, in Italy - where the project is being executed, adds: “For Holborn Viaduct, in Italy we are designing a technologically advanced and bespoke façade that will help realise the potential of the scheme’s environmental credentials.

“Our colleagues in the UK will start the installation at the end of March next year, with an expected completion date of March 2026.”

John Conboye, Executive General Manager for Permasteelisa in the UK, adds:

“We’re looking forward to being part of this prestigious scheme and to delivering our work successfully, safely and on time for Multiplex following a very successful and highly collaborative PCSA (pre-construction services agreement).”
